Happy July 4th

Sunday morning.
Peter and I are up early so that Peter can do the Firecracker 5 in downtown Fort Collins. It is his intentions (and mine) that we get fit now that we are in healthy Colorado. Peter feels that if he does not start soon with the running he may just put it off longer. I will walk as much of the course as possible.

We arrive at the course in City Park about 7:30. Seems like about 1000 people are here for the run. Some are true blue runners trying to set records, some are like Peter trying to complete the course and some are walkers. About 5 minutes into the race it begins to rain pretty hard, but that lasts only a few minutes and then the sun is back out again. We must be in Colorado, the sun always comes out!
Peter finishes the race in about 32 minutes. We grab a couple of bananas and head back home. We take the long way through the rural area north of town. Nice to see the cows, horses and fields.

Being over 60 and this being the first run of the season, we are tired, have a lite breakfast and then a much appreciated nap. Being retired, we can do that!

After unpacking a few more boxes and getting more organized, we head into town for a bite to eat in Old Town. Austins on College, a fine place to eat and do some people watching. After lunch we head over to look in the shops and listen to the live music being played in the square. A great way to spend the afternoon.

During dinner time, it begins to get dark out and radio is warning of high winds and rain. Rain and then sunshine. Double rainbow to the east of our house! Mixed in with fireworks.

It is after 9:00PM and we are still working. Think it is time for bed!
